June 12th, 2008 - New Brookland Tavern Awards
March 31st, 2008 - Suhgarim Benefit Show March 31st at
New Brookland Tavern
On February 9th, two of the Columbia music scene's own were involved
in a devastating house fire that claimed virtually everything they owned. Dave
and Tricia Sudak of the band Suhgarim, along with their children, were able
to get out of the house without injury, but they are still recovering from the
disaster.
Their friends and peers in the Columbia music scene have come together
to assist the Sudaks in this time of transition, as they attempt to rebuild
their lives. On Monday night, March 31st, a number of them will be appearing
in a benefit concert at the New Brookland Tavern, with all proceeds going to
the Sudak's recovery. Admission is $5 at the door, with doors opening at 6:00
p.m. and the music beginning at 7:00. Bands involved include
Examining Emma, NeverBetter, Closer, Summer Dream (an acoustic duo featuring
Jordan, Dave Sudak's son, who was also in the house at the time of the fire),
Pagan Savant, Havoc Din, and Meant to Be Morbid.

I have worked for the New Brookland Tavern four and a half years, while serving
as booking agent the last three and a half. During that time I have endured
three different ownerships, but yet have managed to increase the quality and
quantity of shows being booked. In fact NBT has been voted the best rock club
in Columbia three years in a row. However, due to an increase in bills and budgetary
constraints suffered by the club, I have been laid off effective November 20th.
Taking my place is current co-owner Danny Lyons. I am working with Danny to
get him adjusted to the work-load that accompanies the job. I am still responsible
for confirming shows scheduled through December, while Danny is beginning to
work on shows for January and beyond. Guaranteed shows that I have booked will
still be honored. After all, the money was guaranteed by the owners, and the
signatory on all contracts is either Danny or Mike Lyons. All other shows and
holds for January and beyond should be honored, but it is best to email Danny
to reconfirm.
The best way to contact Danny right now is newbrooklandtavern@hotmail.com. Currently
we are both checking the email account. I have the cell phone until November
21st, at which time the account - 803-414-9070, will be switched into Danny's
name. The current fax number of 864-895-0500 will be cut off November 16th.
Danny will notify everyone of the new fax number sometime after November 21st.
I am not sure what I will do next, but as of now I have no plans to continue
booking bands. My wife and I have a child due in May, so hopefully I can finally
put my Master's Degree to good use and make some money. To contact me in the
future, use my current contacts until November 21st. After that Danny will be
handling all business contacts including questions regarding shows I booked
for December. Personal contacts can reach me at dunagin@hotmail.com, my new
cell number 864-505-6584 or www.myspace.com/jondunagin. Thanks for everything
New Music Night is for new and upcoming bands trying to get their foot in the
door at NBT. This is your chance to show us what you've got and what you sound
like. Many bands have been "discovered" by playing new music night,
and now are even headlining on Fridays. The next available new music night will
be held in January. Email newbrooklandtavern@hotmail.com
if interested - subject: new music night January. Include the name of your band,
location, style of music, age of band members and a website if available.
